God's Man Of
Faith And Power Will Be Greatly Missed
As He Has Touched, Shaped, Inspired and Affected The Lives of Many

On March 29, 1927, the breath of God blew upon the earth and once again
man became a living soul. As God exhaled, He gave life to the eldest son
of Charles Edgar and Cinderella Elizabeth Patterson. On Saturday,
October 15, 2011, God inhaled, and called him back unto Himself. BISHOP
FREDERICK D. PATTERSON SR., Senior Pastor and Founder of Ambassador
Cathedral, and the Presiding Prelate of the Ambassadors for Christ
Revivals, Incorporated. Bishop Patterson was born in Bucyrus, Ohio. He
grew up and matriculated through the public school system in
Indianapolis, Indiana. Inspired by George Washington Carver, he pursued
a career in science. Beginning his studies at Butler University in
Indianapolis; ultimately, God changed his career plans. He left Butler
University after accepting his call to ministry and received his formal
training for ministry at the College of the Scriptures in Louisville,
Kentucky. The Lord moved Bishop Patterson to Winston-Salem, North
Carolina as a Bible college professor of the Winston-Salem Bible
College. He received his Masters of Theology Degree from Andersonville
Baptist Seminary in Camilla, Georgia. On March 23, 1957, he was joined
in marriage to the former Dorothy Douglas. She became not only his wife,
but his friend, confidante and partner in ministry. In March of 2011,
they celebrated 54 years of marriage. While establishing himself as a
minister of the gospel, Bishop Patterson became a member of St. Stephens
Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend J. R. Samuels. In the
fullness of time, he later was called to pastor Pilgrim Rest Baptist
Church in Winston-Salem. Again, in March of 1964, the wind of God blew,
and yet another mantle of leadership fell upon the Bishop which resulted
in the establishing of Ambassador Cathedral. The church began in the
former "Save Way Store" located on 23rd Street in Winston-Salem, NC. In
1967, the church moved to 10th and Patterson Avenue. In 1970, Bishop and
Mother Patterson along with 35 teenagers moved the church to its present
location. Over the years, God continued to give the ministry favor under
the apostolic leadership of Bishop Patterson. In 1973, the charter
organization, Ambassadors for Christ Revivals, Incorporated was
established under the leadership of Bishop Patterson. This year
celebrated the 39th Congress. Above all these gifts and talents that the
Lord bestowed upon Bishop Patterson, it is evident that his desire was
to be a teacher and preacher after God's own heart; to abound in the
work of the Lord, to win the lost to Christ; to prepare the believers
for the return of the Lord and to present him with a glorious church in
that day. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edgar
Patterson and Cinderella Elizabeth Patterson, brothers, Nathaniel Lee
Patterson and Eddie Patterson, sisters, Susie Thurman and Rosa Spencer;
sons, Stephen Patterson and Cedric Allen. The Bishop leaves to cherish
his memory and to anticipate a glorious reunion according to I
Thessalonians 4:16-17: For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of
God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and
remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.- A loving
and devoted wife, her grace, Lady Dorothy Douglas Patterson; sons,
Samuel L. Allen of Buffalo, NY, Bishop Edwin L. (Pansy) Allen, David
(Sharon) Allen, Sr., Frederick D. (Beverly) Patterson Jr.; daughters,

L. (Arthur) Sprinkle and Andrea Jeter; 24 grandchildren, 35

and sent forth. The State Funeral for Bishop Patterson will be held on
